WAWCAS Women stories

In a series of Women’s stories we follow Sita Giri and other women over a period of 16 months. We learn about their lives before entering the WAWCAS Program and how being part of the program has affected not only their lives but also the lives of their children, husbands and other family members.

Sita Giri is one of the new women in the WAWCAS Program. A woman who used to be a hard studying and ambitious 16 year old girl dreaming about higher education, but soon saw her life take a completely different direction. An arranged marriage when she was only 16 years old, and a family life without the possibility to support her further education, changed Sita’s possibilities in life. She saw the former open and outgoing girl change into a timid woman without any self-confidence. Sita herself describes it as ’feeling like a nobody’.

Entering the WAWCAS program and being part of a group of likeminded, strong women was life changing for Sita, who once again was part of a community of support, life and laughter. Empowered through games and learning and encouraged to open her own business Sita takes us through her new life and her visions for a new future for her and her family.
