February 2024
Namaskar to everyone and I would like to warmly welcome all of you for the 9th part of my blog. Time just flies after becoming a member of the WAWCAS Group, and I did not notice how far time just runs. For the last 7 months, I have been keeping my records of income and expenses and I can see real changes because through the PCA plan, I am deducting unnecessary expenses. In our Gurung community, there are many festivals and rituals where we need to spend money even though we cannot offer it. Nowadays I am very much aware of it, and I don’t care what other people say: I am not spending those unnecessary expenses.
I can see the way people looked at me before and now, and this has changed a lot. Now, I feel they value me, which is my biggest success.
Before joining the WAWCAS group my husband used to drink a lot. He used what he earned from the labor work, and he never spent any money on daily household expenses. Also, he took the money which I earned from the labor work, and he used it on alcohol. Now times have changed. We do PCA together and he realizes how much money he has spent drinking alcohol. He told me that if he had saved that money, he could have bought a nice house and farm. So from that day he reduced his drinking a lot – it is almost zero now. This PCA is a very effective tool to open your inner eyes and manage to save more. I also discussed with other women in my areas and taught them PCA even though they are not our target members and they are very happy to learn those tools.
I have also bought piggy bags for my kids, and they also started their savings. When guests come to my house, my children show them the piggy bags and if they get any money from the guests they immediately keep it in the bags.
Seeing those changes, Sima (our trainer) seemed so happy, and she shared those things during the training and I got a big appreciation from her.
