February 2026
Greetings,
In Gujara Municipality Ward No. 8 and 9, Simrabhawanipur, Rautahat, with the support of Slisha Organization (WAWCAS partner in Nepal), Group No. 6 and 8 under the “Women at Work, Children at School” program have been conducting various activities for the past one year by involving 35 children. These activities included regular sessions, discussions, and extra-curricular programs.
With the objective of reviewing the progress and impact of this child group, today’s discussion focused on reflecting upon their journey, learning, and transformation.
Before the formation of this child group, the lives of children in this community were largely limited to irregular school attendance and household chores. They had no organized platform where they could play together, express their thoughts freely, learn about their rights, or develop leadership skills. Most children hesitated to speak in groups. Their knowledge about child rights, hygiene, equality, teamwork, and social responsibility was very limited.
Children mainly followed instructions from parents and teachers, but they rarely had opportunities to participate in discussions, planning, or decision-making related to their own lives. They were visible, but their voices were unheard.

After the formation of the WAWCAS Child Group, the situation gradually began to change. In this area, the group became known as the “Aawaj (Voice) Child Group.”
Through regular, structured, and child-friendly sessions, children received opportunities to participate in interactive discussions, games, storytelling, and creative activities. The sessions mainly focused on the following topics:
- Hygiene and disease prevention
- Child rights and its four pillars
- Violence and sexual abuse
- Nutrition and balanced diet
- Drug abuse
- Holistic development
- Leadership development
- Time management
- Moral duties and responsibilities
- Critical thinking
- Conflict management
- Imagination and creativity
- Importance of saving
- Adolescent education
- Financial literacy
- Anger management
- Effective communication
These continuous discussions created a safe and supportive environment where children learned to speak without fear, listen with respect, and think independently.
Over time, children began to express their ideas openly. Gradually, clear and positive changes became visible. Children who were once silent started speaking confidently. Many began taking leadership roles in small activities.
Parents and teachers also shared that they noticed improvements in children’s behavior, interest in school, and sense of responsibility at home.
Major improvements observed include:
- Better hygiene, discipline, and behavior
- Increased confidence and communication skills
- Awareness of child rights and safety
- Development of teamwork and leadership
- Active participation in school and community activities
- Habit of working according to schedules
- Ability to identify opportunities for participation
- Growth in mutual support, coordination, and cooperation
Children now encourage each other to attend school regularly, maintain cleanliness, and resolve conflicts through peaceful dialogue. They are no longer just participants – they are becoming small change-makers.
As the formal sessions of the Child Group come to an end, a new phase has begun. With mutual understanding and coordination, a decision has been made to merge the Aawaj Child Group into the “Deepjyoti Child Club” operated under Gujara Municipality.
Currently, the merging process is ongoing, and necessary coordination and formal procedures are being carried out. This process will be completed soon.
After the merger, children will officially become members of Deepjyoti Child Club and will continue regular meetings, child-led activities, awareness programs, and community initiatives.
This step reflects the confidence, unity, and ownership developed through the Deepjyoti journey.
The Deepjyoti Child Group was not just a program – it became a foundation for empowerment. It gave voice to silence, transformed hesitation into leadership, and turned curiosity into responsibility.
Today, these children are ready to move toward the next stage. As they step toward Deepjyoti Child Club, they carry with them confidence, skills, and values.
We strongly believe that these children will bring positive change to their families, schools, and communities. This is not merely a project—it is the beginning of a bright future led by children themselves.
Children’s Commitments
The children of the Deepjyoti Child Group have made the following commitments for the future:
- I will express my thoughts fearlessly.
- I will attend school regularly and focus on my studies.
- I will take responsibility for cleanliness at home and school.
- I will help other children and actively participate in group work.
- I will resolve conflicts through peaceful dialogue.
- I will respect child rights and teach my friends to do the same.
Conclusion
Finally, wishing that every child of the Aawaj Child Group fulfills their promises, I extend my heartfelt best wishes.
We commit ourselves to providing continuous guidance, services, coordination, and support whenever needed. With this assurance, we pray that children’s sense of ownership, responsibility, and leadership continue to grow stronger.
May they move forward with constant progress and confidence.
With best wishes,
Sincerely,
Binod Kumar Ram
