Part 14 – A Morning of Challenges, Courage and New Determination

November 2025

Like every day, my golden morning had begun in its usual way. There was a slight shift in the weather, as if the air itself was hinting that the day might bring something different. Because our meeting was scheduled early, I hurried to complete my household chores, knowing it would be difficult to manage both perfectly.

Today was also our savings group meeting. By 7:30 a.m., I had finished my housework and rushed to join the group. Once all the members arrived, the meeting officially began. Everyone deposited their savings one by one, and afterward, we moved to the lending process. I had decided to request a small loan today. Since the day I received seed money from the group, I have been investing it in pig and poultry farming. The first batch of chickens had gone very well, giving me confidence and hope.

But this current batch did not turn out the same. Some chickens died, and even the ones that survived couldn’t generate enough return to even meet the investment. That is why I wanted to take a loan—to reinvest and start again. I openly shared this situation with the sisters and Meera because loans are given based on the urgency and need of the situation.

All the women comforted me and reassured me, saying not to panic. I felt supported, and soon I was granted the loan. After the savings process ended, we had a brief discussion. As usual, Meera planned to visit a few members’ homes afterward. When the meeting finished, I returned home and she went to visit the others.

I had just finished preparing lunch when Meera came to my home. We sat together and talked. I was still feeling discouraged thinking about my poultry loss. But the Meera gently encouraged me. She said; “Business always brings ups and downs—profits and losses are a natural part of it. What truly matters is your courage. You didn’t give up. You chose to start again, even if it meant taking another loan. I admire that. With this determination, your business will surely grow stronger.”

She then spoke to me about writing my story. At first, I hesitated and said, “Why write a story when I have faced loss this time?”  She smiled and explained; “Success stories do not inspire people because everything is perfect. True inspiration comes from resilience—when someone faces loss but chooses to rise again. Many women may be struggling silently after facing setbacks. Your story can give them hope that even after a fall, we can stand again, start again, and rebuild. This loss is only from one batch, not your entire journey. When your new investment succeeds, your story will become a strong example for others.”

Her words touched me deeply. I realized she was right.

Afterwards, we visited my pig shed. She encouraged me again, saying my pig-raising business looked promising and strong. She left with warm, reassuring words that stayed with me even after she had gone.

Inside my heart, a quiet transformation was taking place. The thought that my story could encourage and uplift other sisters gave me strength. I made a firm decision—I will work harder, I will give my best, and I will turn this business around.

And I know that I will accomplish this.
